Premier Womens Fall / Winter Tryouts

Westside FC’s Premier Women’s team is rebuilding for 2015-16 and offering opportunities to female players with high level experience.

We are looking for motivated and technically strong players who have succeeded at the Varsity (University/College), competitive U-21, or highest youth league (Metro/BC Premier League) level.

We have scheduled assessment sessions for Wednesday August 12th and 19th, 2015 at 7:00 pm. We will also be holding informal trials on Thursdays July 30th and August 6th, 2015 at 6:30 pm.

Westside Wild vs Vancouver Spurs

Westside Wild beat the Vancouver Spurs 4-0 at Trillium turf.  Kira Sanger opened up the scoring about 20 minutes into the first half scoring a penalty shot after being taken down in the box.  Jessica Thompson scored shortly after on a breakaway after being fed a lovely through ball from Kira Sanger.  Megan Turnock found the top corner from 25 yards out to extend the lead to 3-0 at half.  The Wild went down to 10 men after Christina Lazeski went off with an injury, allowing the Spurs to push a bit, but the Wild were strong defensively and kept a clean sheet.  Hannah Snetsinger scored the final goal in the second half.

Player of the game – too tough to call.

Westside Wild vs Richmond Breakers

Westside Wild beat Richmond Breakers 1-0.  Despite carrying the game, the Wild had difficulty scoring.  With 15 minutes to go, Mary Ellen Glover netted the game winner.

Westside Wild vs Meraloma Menace

Westside Wild beat Meraloma Menace 2-0.  Goals by Kira Sanger and Mary Ellen Glover.

Westside Wild vs MIB Cougars

Westside Wild beat the MIB Cougars on a chilly November evening.  Mary Ellen Glover opened up the scoring following through on a scramble in the 6 yard box about 15 minutes in to the first half.  10 minutes later, Darcy Morgan found the back of the net on another 6 yard box scramble.  The Cougars responded with a goal 10 minutes before half.  Jessie Thompson headed home a cross from Steph Steward.  Jessie also netted the fourth goal on a break-away after a lovely through ball from Claire Hatcher.  The cougars pressed late in the second half, getting a lucky bounce in front of the keeper to score their second goal.

Westside Wild vs Van City FC B

Kira Sanger opened the scoring in the first half, only to have Van City FC B score on a breakaway in the last 20 minutes.

Westside Wild vs RGSA Red Devils

Westside Wild suffered their first loss of the season against the RGSA Red Devils.  The Devils scored mid-way through the first half and the Wild pushed back, with Megan Shaw scoring with only 5 minutes left in the second half, only to have the Devils get a shot in with only 30 seconds left in the game.

Player of the game was Darcy Morgan.

Westside Wild went down in the first half with a fluky goal by the spurs.  In a dramatic last 5 minutes, Kira Sanger headed home a cross in  to tie up the game 1-1.
