The Wild got their first win of the season at Hilcrest Park against the MIB Cougars. The Wild took control of the game early, with Megan Shaw netting the first goal in the opening 15 minutes. Shortly after that, Kira Sanger got on the end of a Wild goal kick to run the ball down to the Cougars net and slot it home. Claire Hatcher followed that up with a long shot that proved to be too much for the Cougars keeper to handle. The Wild maintained control of the game for the full 90 minutes, with the Cougars barely threatening the goal. Final result – Wild 3, Cougars 0.
Westside Wild opened their season with a 1-1 tie with Van City FC B at Rupert Park. Van City carried the play for the opening 20 minutes, but the Wild drew first blood on a goal by Kira Sanger 30 minutes into the half. An unfortunate bounce off a Van City shot found it’s way to the back of the net shortly before half to tie it up 1-1. The Wild carried the play for much of the second half, but were unable to find a game winner. Overall, a great start to the season.
